Gidget Swaantje was a good little girl, a well reserved aspiring magicsperson. Her mother owned a library, and taught her all she could while raising her, but soon found that she was too busy to keep up with the tutoring. So she found and hired a skillful Magic Man to take Gidget under his wing and teach her the art and form of magic.
Gidget began to spend all her time with the man, eager to learn from him. He began to call her “Gigi” for a nickname, and seemed to regard her almost as his own child. He noticed, however, how passive and shy the girl was, how she would let anyone have what they wanted, even if it caused her harm. He would have none of it, and aimed to “fix” her and her personality flaws. She was reluctant and unsure at first, but he reassured her that it would help further the potential of her magic abilities, and earn her respect from the entire town.
With the help of his magic, and natural charm, the magic man began to slowly form Gidget into his own image. He taught her to be alluring and to draw men to her in order to control them, and planted the idea in her head that power = everything.
She began to hunger for and adore the feelings she would get from having power, but never really knew that she was not the one who was really in control. The Magic Man was really the one pulling the strings, using her to get to and bring down all those who had opposed him at any point of his life. Anytime he told her to do something and how, she accepted it willing. “Magic Man knows best.”
A year into the Magic Man and Gidget's training sessions, the town's resident Duke had announced his engagement to a wealthy merchant's daughter, who happened to also be a former lover to the Magic Man. He immediately grew envious, and began to plot against the couple, using Gidget as the main key.
He arranged for her to learn more flashy ways of catching the Duke's attention, and before long she had done just that. The Duke took interest the first time he saw her, and started to invite her to his home to have dinner with him, and just to spend time together. He would buy her expensive gifts, like jewels and clothing, most of which her later taken by the Magic Man. After months of this courtship, the duke finally took it to the next level, and made her his secret mistress. He had a great fondness for her, more than just a friendship, and she soon began to return the feelings. He made her happy, and she was content with staying just the mistress, as long as it was for him.
The Magic Man had different plans. He had sat back for most of the “mission”, watching and just making sure Gidget was doing the right things the right way. When the date of the wedding grew closer, the Magic Man pulled her to the side, and instructed her on the last part of his plan. She hadn't known a thing about it the entire time, and was uneasy at first, but as always, “Magic Man knows best”.
She reluctantly did as she was told, and went crying to the duke, claiming to be pregnant with his child. The Duke was torn by the news, and immediately called off his wedding to plan a new one with Gidget, for it was considered the right thing. Gidget was torn, feeling joyful that she would have the Duke for herself, and all the power with him, but felt guilty about the false pretenses behind it all. She couldn't go through with it.
Days after getting engaged, she approached the Duke, and told the truth. In tears, she tried to explain to him that she may had been used, but she did feel for him what he had for her. He was devastated, but devastation quickly turned to fury, and no matter how much she apologized, how much she meant it, he wouldn't accept it, and had her sent away.
Heartbroken, Gidget left for home, intending to go straight to her mother, but the Magic Man had caught her before she could get anywhere. He was furious, and screamed and scolded her for her disobedience, and for ruining his plan. He punished her, both mentally and physically, wiping her mind clean of everything when he was done with her. All he left were the things he had taught her, about taking men and gaining power from them. She couldn't remember her Duke, or any of the men she ruined, or any feelings she had for them.
The Magic Man dropped her to her mother, calling her curses and claiming that all she had done to anyone was all her, and ruining her name forever in their town. She lived there a month, never knowing what exactly she did, or how, but just knowing she did something. She grew cold, and demanding, and everyone hated her. Even her mother couldn't stand her, and sent her away to her father, who in turn sent her away to Reaper High.
From then on, she was “Gigi”. The only other memories she does have are of things she enjoyed, like the ballroom dancing she had done often with the Duke, and the fancy gifts he had given her. She was only able to keep one; a white and black fur coat, which she always wears, even though she doesn't remember where it came from. She's attached to it, and feels that she “needs” it, for some reason, and often get uncomfortable about it. Her uncertainty is why she usually answers questions about her past with “may or may not”. She truly does not remember, and likely won't anytime soon.
